Founded in 2011, the Nathan Ebanks Children Advocacy Group (N.E.C.A.G.) exists to support the efforts of the Nathan Ebanks Foundation (NEF) in Jamaica, and through the NEF, other Jamaican non-governmental organizations to provide education, rehabilitation support and intervention services to children and young people with disabilities and special needs.
We are a charitable 501(c)(3) organization built on the principles of love, brotherhood, service and support.. All donations to the N.E.C.A.G. are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
The Nathan Ebanks Children Advocacy Group (N.E.C.A.G). was inspired by the life of Nathan Ebanks, who was born in Jamaica in 2004, and diagnosed with cerebral palsy nine months later, Faced with diminished chances of their son surviving childhood because of a lack of early intervention, medical and developmental services, Nathan's parents chose to set up the Nathan Ebanks Foundation (NEF) to advocate for, and give voice to the thousands of children living with disabilities who were otherwise invisible in the systems.
Inspired by the work these two parents chose to take on, despite their own challenges, a small group of women in the United States who were Jamaican born and their American-born friends rallied around this family to give their personal support. Within months, it was plain to see the magnitude of change that this one organization was achieving, and the strides they were making in bringing national awareness in Jamaica about the needs of children with disabilities.
When you find work that matters, giving up is not an option. So, this group of benefactors set out to give the NEF a larger platform and a global presence, by setting up the N.E.C.A.G. as a 501 (c) 3 organization in the United States.
The N.E.C.A.G. carries a passion for children with disabilities (physical, cognitive, mental and emotional) and those who are most vulnerable in Jamaica. Our key areas of focus are:
